 Professor, Applied Mathematics and Computational Science Dr. Bajic’s primary interest is in facilitating biological discoveries through the use of sophisticated bioinformatic systems combined with data modeling and machine learning methods, with an emphasis on inference of new information not explicitly present in biomedical data, development of systems with such capabilities and their industrial applications. Other: modeling biological networks, metagenomics, functional genomics, text-mining, data-mining and chemoinformatics, as well as identification of bioactive compounds and various biomarkers. |
 Associate Professor, Bioscience Dr. Pain’s research interests are in parasite genomics and transcriptomics, comparative genomics, host-pathogen interactions, non-protein-coding RNAs and regulation of gene expression in parasites, and genomic diversity in pathogenic and non-pathogenic microorganisms. |
 Associate Professor, Bioengineering Dr. Ravasi is working to develop computational models of biological signaling, transcription regulatory networks, and regulatory pathways, to integrate, model, and visualize the enormous amount of data derived from modern biological experiments. He also uses a metagenomic approach to explore microbial biodiversity in the Red Sea to discover useful microbial bioactive molecules. |
 Assistant Professor, Computer Science Dr. Gao’s research interest is to design algorithms and develop machine-learning techniques to solve key problems in structural biology and synthetic biology. |
